Procedures
- Application
- Interested Volunteers need to complete an application form which
can be obtained from our office by writing to Dallas County Conservation,
1477 K Avenue, Perry, IA 50220 or by calling (515) 465-3577 or
e-mailing a request to .
Be sure to let us know your area of interest!
- Interview
- We will contact you for an interview in order to get to know
you better and to place you in a volunteer position that is appropriate
for your needs as well as ours. Interviews are held at the Administration
Office at Forest Park Museum, near Perry and the Bear Creek Nature
Center at the Kuehn Conservation Area, north of Earlham.
- Agreement
- Volunteers sign an agreement which states there will be no pay
for services and explains the volunteer work injury policies.
- Service Records
- Volunteers are responsible for documenting their volunteer service
- date, location, brief description of work and total number of
hours. Volunteer records are audited by the county and state.
Records assist in the grant application process for many programs
and events Dallas County Conservation Department sponsors. The
records tell us where volunteers' interests are and which areas
of need we need to promote.
- Training
- All training is done On-The-Job! Once you're on our volunteer
list, you'll be notified of all activities and opportunities.
We work together until volunteers are ready to fly on their own.
