Application
Interested Volunteers need to complete an application form which can be obtained from our office by writing to Dallas County Conservation, 1477 K Avenue, Perry, IA 50220 or by calling (515) 465-3577 or e-mailing a request to . Be sure to let us know your area of interest!
Interview
We will contact you for an interview in order to get to know you better and to place you in a volunteer position that is appropriate for your needs as well as ours. Interviews are held at the Administration Office at Forest Park Museum, near Perry and the Bear Creek Nature Center at the Kuehn Conservation Area, north of Earlham.
Agreement
Volunteers sign an agreement which states there will be no pay for services and explains the volunteer work injury policies.
Service Records
Volunteers are responsible for documenting their volunteer service - date, location, brief description of work and total number of hours. Volunteer records are audited by the county and state. Records assist in the grant application process for many programs and events Dallas County Conservation Department sponsors. The records tell us where volunteers' interests are and which areas of need we need to promote.
Training
All training is done On-The-Job! Once you're on our volunteer list, you'll be notified of all activities and opportunities. We work together until volunteers are ready to fly on their own.
